If you haven’t heard the news yet — Pwn Dev Team has released a brand new jailbreak tool “Ac1dSn0w” that can be used to do jailbreak iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1. At the time, it’s only a tethered jailbreak, hopefully an untethered jailbreak will follow soon but we can only wish. Anyway, if you’re feeling adventurous here’s a handy guide to jailbreak your iOS 5 device.
- Connect your iDevice running iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1 to your Mac.
- Enable the “Show Assistant” option, the DFU Mode Assistant will guide you through entering your iDevice into DFU mode.
- Note: If you’re not familiar with how to enter DFU mode, this step option is helpful!
- After DFU Mode, you’re ready to jailbreak, select the “Jailbreak” option.
- After that, you will need to enter DFU Mode again to complete the tethered jailbreak process. Follow the DFU Mode Assistant’s instructions if need be.
- Finally, select the “Tethered Boot” option from the main Ac1dSn0w window.
This tethered jailbreak is for the following iDevices:
Ac1dsn0w is a new jailbreak tool released by the Pwn Dev Team to jailbreak iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1. Be warned that Ac1dsn0w is brand new and in Beta number 1. There will be bugs. You do this at your own risk. If you want a more reliable jailbreak, use Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze. TETHERED JAILBREAK Ac1dsn0w is only available for Mac OS X right now. Ac1dsn0w untethered is coming! ImRel0ad tweeted. However, there are some doubts about the release of an Ac1dsn0w untethered jailbreak for A5 devices. For what it's worth, there hasn't been any.
